HDB Hell

Trigger warning: graphic violent imagery including depictions of death, murder and torture.

I used to live in a HDB (Housing Developing Board, government-subsidised housing in Singapore) flat where I could see into my neighbour’s units from across the floor if they left the door open. I was thinking about where I stood with spirituality and how the values and beliefs of certain religions strongly influence their idea of hell. I decided to make my own hellish realm based on my moral compass and present them in 10 levels of a HDB building. Hence, HDB Hell.

There’s nothing wrong with HDBs - I just thought it would be neat for this piece, which I always pictured as a vertical hellscape.
