Biography

Cassie Sim is a visual artist based in Singapore who loves to tell stories, whether in the form of humorous comics, epic drawings or the occasional piece of writing. Graduating with a BFA in Illustration and History of Art in the United States, she worked in Boston as an arts writer and teacher before returning home and joining a creative agency. When she isn’t making art, she is reading contemporary fiction, terrorising adorable babies, or getting lost in places both familiar and foreign due to a terrible sense of direction and lust for adventure.

Artist Statement

Cassie likes to make things epic and create a more interesting reality. Inspired by fantasy, science fiction, unique architecture and things seen on travels, she revels in the dramatic and plays with all kinds of delightful impossibilities in her bombastic drawings or weird, funny comics. By bringing all manners of strangeness to life, she hopes to encourage people to use their imagination and find magic in the mundane wherever they go.
