Comic: How I Learned to Have Empathy

Oldie but goodie I forgot to post here. The monsters in this comic represent all the unreasonably horrible people I encountered in life: petty bullies at school and work; a very shitty ex-boss who constantly scolded me for the crime of not being able to read her stupid little mind, a couple of psychotic roommates; violent misogynists. Even though I know that I can’t possibly be the only one in the whole entire world to deal with such banal awfulness, these encounters never fail to make me feel extremely unlucky in the moment. Like there’s a cosmic target on my back that says MAKE THIS BITCH’S LIFE A LIVING HELL FOR NO REASON. GO ON. GIVE IT YOUR BEST SHOT. They are as insanely talented in this area as they are miserable and ugly.

Letting shit go is a long, hard lesson I had to learn; honestly, I am still learning. Making this comic - making comics in general, really - helped a bit. Hope it helps you too, or at least make you smile for a second.
